Danger! Earthquakes

Dan­ger! Earth­quakes is a short non-fic­tion book by Sey­mour Simon. Stu­dents learn about the caus­es of earth­quakes, equip­ment used to mea­sure the earth­quakes, and what to do if you are ever in an earth­quake. Dan­ger! Earth­quakes was an anchor text for our 2nd graders. They enjoyed read­ing it and con­nect­ing it to “Earth Drag­on Awakes,” a short nov­el about two boys expe­ri­ences from dif­fer­ent cul­tures dur­ing the San Fran­cis­co Earth­quake of 1906. 

Here is a short quiz to accom­pa­ny Dan­ger! Earth­quakes by Sey­mour Simon. I cre­at­ed this quiz so my 2nd graders could prac­tice ana­lyz­ing ques­tions and find­ing text evi­dence. This 5 ques­tion, 2‑part, short answer quiz asks stu­dents to give evi­dence for their respons­es based on the text.
